In 2017, Jared Padalecki wrote a chapter for the book Family Don’t End With Blood: Cast and Fans on How Supernatural Changed Lives.
He spent two years working on the chapter, which is a powerful and personal account of what fandom means to him, including his own history as a fan and how that helped him understand and appreciate his own fans. He also writes candidly about struggling with anxiety and depression, and shares some of his lowest moments when he came close to giving up – and how he managed to Always Keep Fighting. Jared’s openness about his anxiety and depression have been an inspiration to thousands of fans.
In 2020, as his television show Supernatural came to an end, Jared also contributed a chapter to the book There’ll Be Peace When You Are Done: Actors and Fans Celebrate the Legacy of Supernatural. His chapter includes his thoughts on the show’s and his character’s legacy, and the lessons he’ll take with him to his next show – which turned out to be Walker.
The books are available on amazon or more information on all the contributors is at peacewhenyouaredone.com. Every copy benefits the important work of non-profit Random Acts, as well as one of two suicide prevention organizations, Attitudes in Reverse and SPN Survivors.
