    About the Character

The CW's official character description: "a man finding his way back to his family while investigating crime in the state's most elite unit. Our broken widower and father of two returns home to Austin after being undercover for ten months for a high profile case - only to discover that there's even more work to be done at home." [1]

    History

    Brian Bowen Smith/CW

Abeline is the wife of Bonham and mother to Cordell and Liam. She works on the family ranch and has a great love for her children and granchildren (Stella and August).

When Cordell left to work an undercover case, Abeline and Bonham took in the grandchildren and have been taking care of them with the help of Liam. They worked to give the children a comforting environment, as well as provide a promising future for them by enrolling them both in The Catholic "Sacred Heart High School".

Abeline has a great deal of affection for her family and she is a compassionate matriarch, providing wisdom/advice to Cordell upon his return after 10 months away. She even advises Cordell to live in their farmhouse, rather than living alone in the house he used to share with Emily and his kids. Bonham had fixed up the farmhouse to make it a home, and it's clear when she says this that it was her intention to have him stay all along.
