    About the Character

The CW's official character description: "Walker’s strong, capable and generous late wife who is brave and focused on helping the disenfranchised. Appearing in flashbacks, Emily is a grounded and authentic hero in the Walker family."

    History

Emily and her husband [[Cordell] has a relatively happy life, filled with an abundance of love for each other as well as their children Stella and August. She was a philanthropist type, always offering help to others even while juggling her busy family life. Her large heart earned her a friendship with Geri Broussard. Geri accompanied her on trips to the border to deliver food and water to migrant workers.

On one such trip, she called Cordell in a panic, telling him something wasn't right. The phone call ended moments later, after the sound of two gunshots and Emily's frantic scream. Her murder has become a focal point for Cordell, leading to him constantly questioning several aspects of that night that he deemed don't add up. Very soon after her murder, Carlos Mendoza confessed to the crime and has been put in jail.

Though the murderer is believed to be behind bars, Cordell is still searching for answers. In the second episode of the series it was revealed that Geri had closed Emily's eyes after the murder, because she couldn't bear to leave her friend "like that". And the poker chip that Cordell had been so focused on was revealed to be a father's day gift from Emily herself. Those two clues no longer relevant, much is still left unknown about what exactly happened to Emily, and we believe the mystery will again rear its head in future episodes.
