    About the Character

The CW's official character description: "Walker's new partner who was born and raised in San Antonio. Described as focused and perceptive, her family has been in Texas since before it was Texas. She's been in the Army and on the police force and knows first-hand what it's like to be singled out and discriminated against because of her gender."[1]

    History

Micki is the only daughter of first-generation Mexican American parents, her mother Adriana Ramirez), and an as of yet unnamed father. Micki grew up feeling she had to help the world and others in similar situations to her own, though her plans to join the military were less than ideal in her mother's opinion. She further strained their relationship after becoming a state trooper, and then a Texas Ranger (her mother has since ceased communication with her).

Being promoted to Texas Ranger meant a lot to Micki, as is evident in her behaviour. She's confident and headstrong, hoping to do things by the book so as not to rock the boat. Being one of the first women (and WOC) in the field is a big deal, and her job is the most important part of her life (though, admittedly, she's mentioned her relationship with boyfriend Trey is equally important). Her feelings for him are obviously scary when she has never had a longterm boyfriend before and she is still trying to find her footing with her new position as Ranger.

Micki is put to task to rein in Cordell's behaviour on many occasion as his partner, even informing Cordell that he is "the edge of the coin. Not heads or tails, just... your way, and... I know that's how you work, but I got a lot on the line." She had even gone as far as going undercover as "Adriana" in Duke, to assist Cordell in taking down the final two members of the Rodeo Kings, Twyla Jean and Jaxon Davis.

It's mentioned in multiple episodes how her relationship with her parents (and especially her mother) is strained due to her choice of profession, and in the episode Duke, it's mentioned that her mother is a Doctor. Through the casting notice, it was revealed that she is a Psychiatrist and published author, and "is a strong personality who’s manipulative and very invasive when it comes to her daughter Micki’s life".[2]
